Kristin Deady
Kristin was born and raised in Norwich, NY. Shortly after graduating high school in 1998 a friend introduced her to flameworking, she was immediately hooked. From California to New York Kristin has had the opportunity to study and learn from numerous skilled hands. Learning from hobbyists, production workers, scientific blowers and glass artists Kristin has soaked up everything she could along the way and continues to learn as much as possible about every aspect of glass.
Kristin received an Associate in Art degree from Salem Community College in 2005 while enrolled in their Glass Art program. While at Salem Kristin had the excellent opportunity to study Glass Art under the instruction of artists Anna Boothe and Paul Stankard. Since graduating from Salem Kristin has moved to Elmira New York where she lives, loves and works with her partner Scott Griffin. Kristin is currently designing and creating beautiful and unique glass jewelry while continuing to grow as an artist.
“Glass beads have been being produced by man for thousands of years. I’m trying to learn from everything that I have seen done in glass throughout history. I take into consideration what has been done successfully and add my own new ideas to create beads that are detailed, different, and of the highest quality I can train my hands to make. Every one of my beads is handmade by me (along with some fire, physics, and chemistry) one at a time making each bead truly different from the next. You cannot replicate a moment in time, and that is what my beads are made in, two beads of even the same style will have their own unique qualities making every piece one of a kind." |
Scott Griffin
Scott Griffin’s artwork shows great intent and an exceptional level of skill. He uses his ability to blend modern techniques with those of the prominent Italians. Scott carefully combines these two forms to create something new and exciting. He continues to use modern influences as his locomotion.
An attempt to mimic the posture of nature, an imaginative blend of colors and function combines art with form giving shape to this artist’s unique style.
“As a highly motivated artist, I find extreme fulfillment in creating objects with clean line and form. With my art I attempt to express even the unpredictability of nature; the experience of life and beauty as a constant.”
Scott is also the owner and operator of Griffin Glass Tools, creating glass working equipment for the flameworking industry. |
